Pros: The lovely host, Raffaela, was there to welcome me and settle me in. The property is a querkily-decorated charming apartment in a traditional late nineteenth century building of the Eixample. The location is great, away from the tourist areas but within walking distance of the Sagrada Familia and the Hospital St Pau and not far from several metro stations. The shops, bakeries and streets are full of local Barcelonians and little old men sit on street benches to sun themselves during the day. It's very quiet, the only street noise is the clang-clang-clang of the Calor Gas salesmen as they sell their wares in the morning. The apartment and all its facilities were cleaned daily to a very high standard by the maid that visits every day who showed me how to use the espresso coffee machine in the kitchen without any English language! The bed was very comfortable and I slept well.
Contras: My single room had two beds in it, a double and a single. It would have been better with just the double bed and the extra space used for a desk or table and chairs instead. But nevertheless it was a comfy room and satisfied my needs. I used the second bed to spread out my belongings.
