Pros: Excellent, warm attention from a very responsive, professional host and her associate. They provided lists of their favorite restaurants in town, helped me navigate the public transportation system, and even left me a welcoming bag of treats! This flat is truly unbeatable value for the location in expensive Barcelona, and there are good markets, public transportation, and visitors' sites within walking distance. The plain pictures don't do justice to the place, which is airy, sunny, well-ventilated, and simply furnished. Plus, you have a full view of the Mediterranean!
Contras: The front gate is hard to open and close at first. If you have a bad back or are traveling as a couple, the basic double sofa-bed may be uncomfortable. More importantly, the narrow, steep hallway stairs are impossible to access with ambulatory disabilities, as well as inconvenient and a little dizzying if you bring wide, heavy luggage. The space itself, though, is thoughtfully designed and comfortably outfitted for individual stays. If you cook, the kitchen supplies are adequate (though there is only a bread knife to work with). For some people, the distance from the beach-area attractions might seem a disadvantage, but frankly, it is nice to leave the touristy parts of the city and experience a sense of authentic daily life in the hills, and beautiful Park Güell is around the corner for photos, views and running paths.
