The Finca has a long history as one of the most prestigious orange estates in the Alzira area. The original owner, originally from Mallorca, created the farm in the 1920´s and was a pioneer in exporting oranges to France. A mural depicting his home town of Soller in Mallorca remains in display on the house. The farm was planted with Valencia oranges which flourished on an estate protected from frost by the sea breeze that comes in from the Mediterranean some 15 km to the east. The estate passed through a number of owners over the years and after purchasing the farm in late 2016 we set about improving the installations and the crops. Inspired by the health and appearance of 10 avocado trees planted by a previous owner, we decided to transform part of the estate into avocado production, something that only works well in the Valencia climate on farms which are well protected from extreme weather.
The Finca is a working farm on the outskirts of Alzira, a town 45 minutes to the south of Valencia in Spain. We cultivate oranges, tangerines and avocados on around 8 hectares. The recently renovated main house includes two self contained apartments with spectacular views of the Murta Valley and of the Mediterranean sea. The nearest beaches are at Cullera, some 25 minutes away by car. The property has a large reservoir that is used for irrigation which can be enjoyed as a swimming pool in summer. Guests are welcome to explore the farm and throw sticks for the two farm dogs.
Finca Alzira is at the head of the Murta Valley known for its 14th Century monastery and spectacular walks and hikes affording views of the sea and the rice plantations in the area. The adjoining Casella Valley forms part of the same protected nature reserve and is known for the deer compound and many walks and mountain bike trails. Beaches are 25 minutes away, ranging from family friendly beaches with all usual facilities to wild deserted beaches appreciated by kite surfers and nudists. There are two good golf courses nearby (Carcaixent and El Saler). The capital of Valencia is 45 minutes drive away. Also worth noting is the historic medieval town of Xativa, some 20 minutes away. The town of Alzira is only 5 minutes drive with numerous restaurants, bars, supermarkets and services.
