Although I was born in Madrid, my father's family comes from Majorca. We have spent our vacations in the island since ever. When we were young, in that part of the island, the coast was wonderful, very few buildings and people. At night we would hear the sea murmur from bed. As from 9 years, children would go to the beach unsupervised, or on long walks, or fishing; we would move around freely, playing until dusk called us all to dinner, it was paradise. As time passed all that disappear. When I had children of my own, I wanted them to enjoy as much as I did from nature and freedom. We decided to build a house in the countryside, where they could play, run, be a little wild without risk or disturbing the grown ups. They and us have had a marvellous time there. As the property was quite large we built more houses to extend to others the kind of vacation that we enjoyed so much. We recovered an old house and built three more, but from the very beginning, before the houses were built, we designed and planted the gardens. As a result, each house is isolated and surrounded by big trees, what renders a very personal environment, each with its own pool and oblivious of the world.
Now that I have some spare time, I love to be in Son Blat, watching the skies, listening to birds, enjoying the sunsets… and by night, stare at the sky with all the million stars that you can’t see in the city. I also love to read good books, listen to music, walk in the country, sail and be with friends around good food and wine, ah!... in summer a good sea swim early in the morning. I also like to drive around, get a little lost in the small roads and treks of the inland, there is still plenty of land with nobody around, wonderful land, usually with a good share of trees. In winter, when the colours are sharper, I love to get to the sea in the quiet days. You would think the sea is an immense transparent turquoise lake, which always surprises and makes me happy. In the city I like to be with friends, go on long walks through the surrounding areas, discover little towns and monuments, attend the latest art shows, go to the theatre or cinema, concerts, ballet…I have always liked to travel, and to be interested in what I discover, which is a way to forget every day’s problems, coming back home plenty of energy and some times with a different point of view.
In our area the sea is very accessible. You can practice all kind of sea sports. There are many beaches, long and short, always with very fine sand and transparent seas. You can rent sail boats, with or without captain, to enjoy the coast in another way. There are five golf courses within thirty minutes drive, some of them with spectacular views on the sea. There are first class restaurants offering traditional local food and also modern and international. I like very much to go to Portocolom because you can still breath passed time atmospheres in the coast. Quite near Son Blat is the Natural Park of Serra de Llevant, with its astounding virgin spaces on the sea. Given the size of the island and the road infrastructure, it is quite easy to go any place from Son Blat and be back in the day. Palma, the capital city of the island, has some beautiful monuments, plenty of art, excellent shopping as well as good entertainment.
