Tavola de Tau is a classic Spanish Country Home built in 1887 and updated to be off-grid-efficient with solar panels and thermal solar hot water heating(and full back up system), and water recovered from rain and stored in the huge cistern below. The system works well but we ask you to be conscious and careful with the use of electricity and water, like: please use the washing machine during sun hours and at low temperature, do not let the water run unnecessarily and turn off the light when leaving the room, in short, the Tavola is a perfect place to practice taking care of our planet! The spacious (250m2) house sits high up the gently rising hill, with a lovely, full-faced view out to the Mediterranean Sea, while the backside view from the 2nd story balcony looks out to the famous, unique shape of mountains bordering the Burga valley. The house's mixture of country house style, practical comfort and distinguished design makes most anyone feel at home immediately One more detail: as you can see in the pictures, there is a stairway to the top floor and some steps to fro the living room to the other parts so the house is not suitable for wheelchairs, we are sorry for that
I am a Dutch ceramacist and have been living & working in Spain/Catalunya for the last 30 years of which the last 18 in the countryside. The Tavola is my project, i fell in love with it last year and was able to buy it, it s a house with a soul and beautiful surroundings and I have been and still am improving it all the time.I hope you will enjoy staying here as much as I do.
The Tavola is surrounded by nature and there are many hiking paths. The house is at 11km from l'Ametlla del Mar, a fishersmen's village that has nice port, bars and restaurants, lovely beaches and the trainstation. El Perello , the inland agricultural village is also nice and friendly and I would advice you to go to the Saturday morning market , e where the locals sell vegetables, cheese & olives, crafts, clothing etc and when everybody is out and having coffee or a drink on the plaza. There are many other activities i could recommend, like la Via verde, the 40km downhill cycling track, kayakking on the Ebro, visting Miravet with it s castle and ceramics shops by ferry.
