Our barn is a really special place situated in a lovely part of the finca surrounded by nature and tranquility. The views are over olive groves and up to the peaks of the sierra. Walk out into the sierra straight from the barn, a unique feature of the Sierra de Montanchez it the network of ancient paths leading to spectacular views and great bird watching opportunities. The barn is very spacious with a double height sitting room, long wide covered terrace for bird observation. The kitchen is well equipped. The whole space is kept cosy in cooler months with a Danish wood burning stove. Very private surrounded by 1 hectare of its own land within the larger finca. Private swimming pool in 2021. Within 30 minutes drive there are 3 historical towns for exploration and good shopping. Our local village in Montanchez famous for jamon and its Moorish castle, can be reached by a wonderful walk in 40 minutes or by car in 5 minutes. Dogs are welcome, there is a charge of 20 per stay per dog.
I have lived in Extremadura for the last 10 years after living in Portugal for over 20 years. Manfred and I have designed and created a special atmosphere at Finca al-manzil. It reflects our many travels with interiors full of interesting objects, lots of books and dvds. The finca is a very tranquil place, great for really turning off for a while. There is a lovely pool for lounging, comfortable terraces around the house and beautiful walks straight from the finca. We love living here and introducing the wonders of Extremadura to others. Bird watching is a particularly rewarding pursuit. We love to cook and dinner is available to order, we also run cooking holidays several times a year and an organized walking holiday which includes trips to our wonderful historical towns, Caceres, Trujillo and Merida. Feel welcome to Finca al-manzil for a few nights with B&B or one or two or three or four weeks staying in the whole house as self catering guests at the Barn or the Cortijo.
The barn is in a beautiful part of the sierra with direct access to wonderful walking paths. Montanchez is our local village, famous for jamon and the local wine, some good restaurants and cafes. We have 3 historical towns just 40kms away, Caceres, Trujillo and Merida. There are buses to local towns.
