We bought this magical property in 2014, having fallen in love with Andalucia, with it´s beauty, it´s light, character, sunshine and it´s wonderfully friendly, happy people. Back then, Los Almeces was somewhat run down and in need of a lot of tender loving care. Despite this, it´s peaceful energy, incredible views, fabulous quality of soil and inspiring potential called to us and we embarked upon a rather large and long journey of restoring, not only the house and cottage, but all the land and gardens too. Happily, we completed that journey in Spring of 2018 and now have a truly gorgeous place to enjoy and share with others! The house enjoys it´s own private garden and patios which surround it, complete with an outside dining area, a comfortable seating area and a built in BBQ. Guests are welcome to make full use of all the facilities of Los Almeces, which include the stunning salt water swimming pool and bar area, the multisport astroturf pitch and all the grounds in general.
We are a mixed nationality family who have been living in Spain for many years now. We are passionate about organic farming and looking at ways to plant and care for the land in a sustainable way and we are always enthusiastically happy, to show guests around the land and gardens, explaining about the variety of plants and all the other wonderful things there are to do and to see close by. Such as the ´´Castillejo de Quintana´´, which are the ruins of a Mozarab monastery,around a thousand years old and the ´´Baño de la Reina´´, the ruin of a Roman Queen´s bath, about 2,000 years old, both just a 10 to 15 minute walk
The surrounding area offers a huge variety of different activities, from endless hiking trails, bird watching, horse riding, cycling, world class climbing at El Chorro - with it´s gorgeous lakes, and the recently acclaimed, World Heritage site of El Caminito del Rey - The King´s Walk, an amazing suspended pathway through a spectacular gorge. Malaga city centre, beaches and the airport are all only a 25 minute drive away and great cities to visit like Cordoba, Granada and Seville are within 2 hours drive. Pizarra is just 5 minutes away, a pretty and friendly Andalucian, country town, not at all touristy and offering a few very good places to eat out, a variety of shops, bars and cafes and lots of local festivals. If one is wanting to explore the area and to do day trips, a car could be useful, but not necessary, as there is a bus stop right at the end of the drive, with hourly buses to Pizarra and on to Malaga city. Pizarra itself has a very good train service, with hourly trains to Malaga city, with connections to the airport and trains to Ronda/Cordoba.
