Puerto de la Cruz used to be a fishers town. In the early nineteens, it started receiving its first tourists. But it's not a jam packed touristic town. You can still live the essence of the old town fishers town. The climate of Puerto de la Cruz is mild and very much loved by tourist who do not aim to only bake in the sun. The island, being a small space has many micro climates. You could be enjoying the snow on the peek of mount Teide or enjoy the view of the white mountain from the beach taking a swim(please note that the mountain only has snow on its peek some moments a year). Puerto de la Cruz has a lot of cultural activities on offer, such as carnaval, street theater, folkloric festival, music festival, carnaval, etc.... And the many restaurants can be enjoyed all year round. In Puerto de la Cruz you will also find the well known "Loro Parque", the "Lago Martinez" salt water pools and the beaches Playa Jardín, Playa Martianez and with a short hike Playa del Bollullo.
